On The Horizon for 2009 - 2010
Calendar still in progress
A Visit with Rosemary Gladstar
We are so delighted to welcome Rosemary Gladstar, our beloved teacher and elder of the herbalist community, for this weekend of teaching, stories and weed walks and information about stewarding our endangered native medicinal plants. Rosemary has been sharing her knowledge, experience and love of herbs as an educator, activist, and entrepreneur since 1972. Among her important roles in the world, she is the founder of United Plant Savers, co-founder and director of Sage Mountain Herbal Retreat Center and Native Plant Preserve, Director of New England Women’s Herbal Conference and much, much more.
Our Friends, the Trees: A Four-Part Seasonal Series
This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your relationship with the trees across the seasons. Each season, we will meet for a weekend to learn the subtle features of tree identification, practice primitive skills with material from the trees, develop awareness skills with experiential activities, and learn about the many gifts of trees for survival, medicine and spirit-in-nature. This series will focus on common native and non-native local trees & will include some best practices in forest stewardship.
A Journey into Spirit & Relationship in Nature: A Four-Part Series
This series will be centered around sacred principles and our relationship within the natural world. Over four weekends, we will enhance our awareness skills through personal reflections, experiential activities and questing times. Each person will also create a personal sacred pipe, a sacred plant pipe blend, and learn the personal pipe ceremony passed to us by Grandfather Stalking Wolf through his student & our mentor, Tom Brown, Jr. Together we will share reflections, vision, and ritual including sweat lodge ceremony.

Weekend Men’s Gathering
This weekend will focus on men in relationship to self and others, our bodies and health, our visions for the world and next steps individually & together. We will be joined by 1-2 beloved teachers to facilitate our discussions, teach us about medicinal plants and lead us in fire ceremony or sweatlodge. This weekend will be developed during the summer of 2009 with the support of Karden, our wonderful resident intern. If you would like to offer content ideas for consideration, please do!
And The Lodge …
We are in the infancy stages of planning & fund-raising to build a modest LODGE on the land for our programs. Complete with 4-6 single/double rooms, a central area for gathering & classes, access to wash facilities and a simple kitchen area.
The LODGE will enable us to provide workshops and supported retreats throughout the year as well as accommodate those who desire an additional level of creature comfort. We are currently seeking contributors for this project who share our mission and would like to support our growth. Please contact us for further information about this project and thank you so much for your interest.
